Occupational Therapy

Hadden Having a Good TimeOccupational Therapy provides a wide range of therapeutic interventions to develop and/or improve a child’s abilities necessary for the many “occupations” of childhood such as play, self-care, learning, school performance, community skills, and socializing. Each child at The Child Development Center of Colorado Springs is evaluated using standardized tests and observations to assess baseline strengths, limitations, and functional skills. A therapeutic plan is then developed with long-term and short-term goals. Therapy is aimed at developing the underlying sensory and motor foundation necessary for skill development, the development of compensatory strategies, and environmental adaptations needed for success in daily life activities.

Your occupational therapist works closely with families, medical personal, and other therapists to achieve the best possible outcome for your child. We are committed to developing skills that will promote safety, independence, and excellent quality of life.
