Treatment of oral motor and feeding disorder is an organized approach for achieving adequate muscle strength, control, swallow function, respiration positioning and a balanced oral sensory system, all prerequisite to meeting nutritional needs. Early feeding difficulties left unattended can contribute to more complex deficits seen in the toddler years and beyond. Skills developed in early feeding play an important role in speech development, as the same systems are key players in achieving intelligible speech.
